A traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when an external force severely injures the brain. Our rehabilitation team provides a full range of inpatient services for TBI to help increase your independence. By working closely with you and your loved ones, we will develop a program that's designed to promote the best possible quality of life for you.
Early intervention is critical for recovery from TBI. During inpatient care, you may receive treatment from skilled professionals that include:

We also offer a safe, medically supervised environment for your surgical recovery.

Occupational therapy
Occupational therapy may help you develop or regain the ability to carry out everyday tasks at home, work and in social settings. It can include working on fine and gross motor skills, as well as coordination and sensory skills to help you shower, drive and use a pen again. Our therapists work together to address any physical and cognitive issues.
Physical therapy
Physical therapy can help you regain mobility and function after an injury or illness, using a variety of techniques to help reduce discomfort and build strength. Our physical therapists will teach you how to use prosthetics, orthotics and mobility aids, such as wheelchairs, as needed.
Rheumatoid hands therapy
If you are experiencing hand arthritis, we offer an at-home program known as SARAH (stretching and strengthening for rheumatoid arthritis of the hand). With SARAH, you can complete exercise and therapy sessions to improve your hand function over the course of a few months.
Speech therapy
Speech therapy evaluates and addresses communication impairments that may result from an injury, illness or cognitive disorder. Additionally, our speech therapists can help you express yourself again after a stroke.
