Cardiac rehabilitation
Cardiac rehabilitation aims to help you recover from a cardiovascular event — such as a heart attack or heart failure — or other debilitating heart condition. This recovery process usually involves physical therapy, exercise and education to rebuild and maintain your heart strength.

Through our three-phase approach, we provide you with the structured support you need to strengthen your heart and make healthy choices.
Cardiac education
Since 2001, our cardiac rehabilitation program has been certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Through this three-year certification, we are proud to be recognized as leaders in cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation.
During phase one, you may choose to participate in our comprehensive educational program, which includes information on:
- Anatomy and physiology of the heart
- CAD
- Management of cardiovascular risk factors
Management of cardiovascular risk factors
We will provide education on how to properly manage some common risk factors for heart and vascular disease, such as:
- Diabetes
- High cholesterol
- Hypertension
- Inactivity
- Medication
- Obesity and malnutrition
- Smoking
- Stress
- Valvular disease

Cardiac rehabilitation
During the second phase of our process, you will attend educational classes and supervised exercise sessions. These classes are held for one hour, three times a week. Led by a fitness specialist and monitored by one of our specialized nurses, each session you attend will cover:
- Benefits of exercise
- Nutrition, focusing on topics such as cholesterol, fat and fiber, dining out and shopping tips
- Stress management
Outpatient rehabilitation
After you complete the inpatient portion of our program, you can continue your progress at our outpatient cardiac rehabilitation center. Here, our hope is to help you with your transition back to everyday life. Our dedicated cardiac nurse specialists, exercise physiologists and dietitians will assist you with a supervised exercise and nutrition plan.
We can help you:
- Control your blood glucose levels
- Determine your optimal weight and learn how to achieve it
- Improve your cholesterol levels
- Increase your physical fitness and exercise tolerance levels
- Lower your blood pressure and resting heart rate
- Reduce and manage stress
